2. Application Process
Contents: Overview of the application process.
There are no standardised rules governing the process for approving disadvantage compensation. The procedure is determined individually by each higher education institution. You should therefore find out about the relevant regulations and procedures at your institution.
Example: Bielefeld University
At Bielefeld University, the following procedure applies: The application for disadvantage compensation must be submitted to the disadvantage compensation officer of the relevant faculty as early as possible, but no later than three weeks before the examination in question. Therefore, the form for disadvantage compensation (PDF) must be completed and signed by a doctor. The completed form is then sent by post or email to the relevant officer responsible for disadvantage compensation.
In addition, in subsequent semesters, students must inform the examination office of the course in which and the date and time on which an examination is to be taken. As a lecturer, you are not responsible for deciding whether to approve disadvantage compensation for students with disabilities; your role is solely to implement it.
The use of disadvantage compensation must not be noted on the degree certificate or academic transcript.
