Alexandr – Studying whilst on the autism spectrum

Hello. My name is Aleksandr, but I’m called Sasha. I’m 1.95 cm tall and weigh 98 kg. I’m quite muscular. I have dark brown hair. It’s cut short. So is my beard. Today I’m wearing a T-shirt with a 'The Settlers of Catan' design. I’m also wearing loose-fitting cargo trousers in a dark beige shade. As I don’t like laces, I always wear slip-ons. I’ve draped my noise-cancelling headphones round my neck.

Aleksandr (he/him) is a keen sportsman, aged 23, and is studying neuroscience. As well as following an extensive exercise regime, he enjoys playing strategic board games. If you’d like to find out more about Aleksandr’s daily life as a student and his experience of being an autist, visit Aleksandr’s profile on the accessible social platform ‘BlindDate’.

Faiza – Studying with care responsibility

Hi, I’m Faiza. In Arabic, the name means ‘the winner’, although I might not exactly look the part right now in my leggings, trainers and loose-fitting jumper. But this outfit is definitely comfortable and practical. I’ve tied my brown hair back into two plaits and, yes, I’m a whopping 157 cm tall.

Faiza (she/her) is 32 years old, is studying computer science at TU Darmstadt and shares the care responsibilities for her 18-month-old son with her partner Chris. Faiza spends what little free time she has, alongside work and her studies, reading or playing ice hockey. If you’d like to find out more about Faiza’s daily life as a student and her experience of caring for her son, visit Faiza’s profile on the accessible dating platform ‘BlindDate’.

Gabriel – Studying with a visual impairment

Hi, I’m Gabriel. I’m 1.80 m tall and have curly, brown hair. Today I’m wearing an orange shirt over a white T-shirt. I usually roll my sleeves up to my elbows. And I actually always have a pair of sunglasses with me, which I hang from the collar of my T-shirt.

Gabriel (he/him) is a 27-year-old cat dad and is studying for a Master’s degree in Social Work. As well as his passion for true-crime podcasts, Gabriel enjoys meeting up with his friends, practising the piano or spoiling his cat Henry. If you’d like to find out more about Gabriel’s daily life at university and his experience of living with glaucoma, visit Gabriel’s profile on the accessible dating platform ‘BlindDate’.

Hannah – Studying with a hearing impairment

I’m Hannah. I have medium-blonde hair, an athletic build, and I’m just under 1.80 m tall. I usually wear my hair in a ponytail, as I do today, which means my cochlear implant is visible. I’m wearing a knee-length orange dress with short sleeves. And I’ve got white trainers on my feet.

Hannah (she/her) is 25 years old, studying to become a maths teacher in Dortmund, and pursues many (sporting) interests in her spare time. If you’d like to find out more about Hannah’s daily life as a student and her life with severe hearing loss, visit Hannah’s profile on the accessible dating platform ‘BlindDate’.

Kilian – Studying with a motor impairment

Hello, my name is Kilian. My outfit today is very classic: grey suit trousers, a light grey shirt and a blue woollen jumper over the top. I’m wearing black brogues with my active wheelchair, which has a dark blue metal frame. I have short red hair. My eyes are very blue and my skin is very fair. My right hand shows visible paralysis.

Kilian (he/him), aged 21, is in his second semester studying English at the University of Oldenburg. As well as his love of foreign languages and literature, Kilian runs a small travel blog where he documents his experiences abroad. If you’d like to find out more about Kilian’s student life and his life with cerebral palsy, visit Kilian’s profile on the accessible dating platform ‘BlindDate’.

Maxi – Studying with a mental illness

Hi, I’m Maxi. You can tell I love skateboarding just by looking at my clothes. I’m wearing baggy jeans, flat trainers and a loose-fitting hoodie. On my hoodie, I’ve got a button in the colours representing non-binary gender identity. I’m a white person. My hair is currently dyed pink and cut short. It peeks out from under my black beanie. I’m quite short and… sort of neither fat nor thin.

Maxi (they/them) is 29 years old and is studying architecture in Mannheim. In their spare time, they enjoy skateboarding and find inspiration for their studies by passionately photographing animal nests, dens, and shelters. If you’d like to find out more about Maxi’s everyday university life and studying whilst living with depression and anxiety disorders, visit Maxi’s profile on the accessible social platform ‘BlindDate’.

Michelle – Studying with a chronic illness

Hey, I’m Michelle. I’ve got long black hair, plaited into dreadlocks. Today I’m wearing a pair of mum jeans and an orange short-sleeved top that I sewed myself. And, of course, a matching pair of Chucks. I’m wearing light make-up that looks very natural. I’m quite lanky – that’s down to Crohn’s disease. And I’m a person of colour.

Michelle (she/her), nicknamed Chelle, is 19 years old and is studying pop music at the Popakademie in Mannheim. As a keen drummer, she can often be found in the rehearsal room, and she’s also a great source of tips on where to listen to good music. If you’d like to find out more about Michelle’s daily life as a student and her experience of living with Crohn's disease, visit Michelle’s profile on the accessible social platform ‘BlindDate’.

Oliver – Studying with a neurodivergence

Hey, my name’s Oliver. I wear my long, dark-blonde hair in a loose man bun so it doesn’t get in my way. I’m wearing a necklace round my neck and several bracelets on my wrists. Today I’m wearing a plain brown T-shirt with my lab coat over the top. It’s compulsory when I’m in the university chemistry lab – and it’s now become part of my look.

Oliver (he/him) is 31 years old and has been studying food chemistry in Würzburg for four years. In his spare time, he loves cooking and making music with his friends. If you’d like to find out more about Oliver’s everyday life at university and how he copes with dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), please visit Oliver’s profile on the accessible social platform ‘BlindDate’.
