Checklist
Content: General, Presentation, Slide, Text, Links, Headings, Graphics, Tables, Video and Audio.
The links in the individual checkpoints lead directly to the corresponding information in the implementation guide. There you will find specific guidance on how to implement the respective aspects. The order and categorisation are identical in both formats.
1. General
- References to internal or external textual or graphical objects are made by explicitly naming them, not solely by describing their visual or auditory characteristics (references to objects).
- The use of colours is generally kept to a minimum.
- Where colours are used to convey information, for example in charts or to highlight text, labels, symbols, or patterns convey the same information.
2. Presentation
- The main language of the presentation matches the language used for spell-checking.
- The title on the first slide is stored in the metadata and is meaningful and easy to understand.
- Longer presentations include a table of contents at the beginning.
3. Slide
- Each slide has a meaningful title.
- There are no blank lines and no empty placeholders (text boxes) in the presentation.
- The design is simple, for example with no excessive use of transitions, sounds, or graphics.
- The templates (slide masters) provided in PowerPoint are used, with modifications where necessary. The placeholders are filled according to their purpose.
- The header, footer, and slide numbers are created using the appropriate placeholders, marked as decorative, and free of relevant information.
- The reading order of the elements on each slide is logical, with the exception of decorative elements.
4. Text
- Text passages that differ from the main language are marked with the appropriate language (language change).
- The font is sans serif, for example Arial or Helvetica, and neither too bold nor too thin.
- Emphasis using capital letters, italics, bold, underlining, or text effects such as gradient fills, glow effects, or text outlines is used sparingly.
- Line spacing is set to 1.5.
- The text is left-aligned (text alignment).
- Paragraphs are created using paragraph breaks rather than tabs or soft line breaks, that is, there are no blank lines in the presentation.
- Columns are not created using tabs, but by using the Add or Remove Columns function. The spacing between the columns is wide enough to distinguish them visually from one another.
- Only content that genuinely constitutes a list or bulleted list is presented as such. These are created using list or bullet formatting.
- Text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against the background.
5. Links
- URLs do not appear as plain text in the body text. Instead, hyperlinks are inserted, clearly labelled, and easy to understand.
- If a link opens another program, for example a browser or an email program, this is indicated in the link text. Example: 'Contact address' (opens email program).
6. Headings
- Headings are numbered exclusively using Arabic numerals (1), not Roman numerals (I).
- Headings, figure captions, and table captions appear only once and are meaningful and easy to understand.
