Blindness allowance / benefit

The allowance for the blind is a form of financial support for blind people, regardless of their income or assets. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the monthly amount is currently €913.19 for adults under the age of 60 and €473.00 for those aged 60 and over. Minors receive €457.38. Deafblind people receive the above-mentioned allowance plus a deafness allowance of €77.00 per month. The blind person’s allowance may be reduced if care services or residential care are provided. Applications are submitted to the Rhineland Regional Council (LVR) or the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Council (LWL).
