Palantypist

Palantypists enable people with hearing impairments, for example, to engage with spoken content by transcribing it quickly and accurately. This can be done verbatim or in summarised form. The real-time nature of written interpreting is crucial, as it enables people with hearing impairments to participate actively in discussions and, for example, to ask follow-up questions.

Transcription interpreting is primarily aimed at people who have no knowledge of sign language, or only limited knowledge, such as those who have lost their hearing later in life but are able to follow written language well.
