Disability Dongle
The term ‘Disability Dongle’ describes technical solutions or designs – such as assistive devices – which, whilst well-intentioned, fail to address the actual needs of people with disabilities. Disability dongles are often developed by people who do not have a disability themselves. However, they are rarely needed by people with disabilities, as these assistive devices often fail to recognise the needs and everyday realities of people with disabilities.
