Disability Mainstreaming
Disability mainstreaming means that the needs of people with disabilities are systematically incorporated into all areas of society from the outset – for example, in education, employment, urban planning or digital developments. The aim is to prevent barriers from arising in the first place, rather than removing them after the fact. It is a strategic approach that promotes equality, participation and inclusion. Disability mainstreaming is based on human rights and was enshrined internationally in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD).
