Disability ID card / disabled persons pass

A Disability ID card / disabled persons pass is issued to people by the Social Security Office if a degree of disability (GdB) of 50 or more has been determined. The card states the degree of disability (e.g. 50, 70, 100) and whether there are any special indicators, such as ‘G’ for restricted mobility or ‘B’ for a carer. The card does not list any illnesses or diagnoses. The Social Security Office checks this information before the card is issued.

The card helps holders to access certain rights and disadvantage compensation. There are two colour-coded versions of the card. A green card is for people with a degree of disability of 50 or more, but without any specific special status markers.

A green-orange card is issued if one or more special indicators are noted on the card. This card entitles the holder to certain disadvantage compensation measures (e.g. travel passes for buses and trains, parking permits): 

• G (mobility impairment)
• aG (severe mobility impairment)
• B (accompanying person permitted)
• H (incapacitated)
• Gl (deaf)
